What is IKebana

kebana is Japanese style floral art. The origin of ikebana is unknown, however, there are some ideas: offering evergreen plants to the Nature gods or offering flowers as a part of Buddhism practice. Ikebana appeared in Japanese history at Muromachi period which is around 600 years ago. At that time Ikebana was only exercised by privileged classes such as monks or upper class Samurai. After middle of 18th centuries Ikebana expanded to the public.
